But in terms of your career and origin, how, you know, with a passing of time, how do you look back on that achievement in your career, that honour and that experience playing for the Maroon?

Oh, it's probably everything for me, Vossie.

Like just growing up in Brisbane and, you know, I used to go to Lang Park and watch Queensland get flogged by New South Wales, you know, all those years before State of Origin happened in 1980.

So I grew up there and, you know, as a young kid, you sort of dream of that stuff, but, you know, you never really think you're going to make it.

And, you know, at the end of the day, my first representative jersey was playing State of Origin.

So I never really was a kid that had a lot of sort of rep experience.

you know, coming through the grades.

Can Queensland do the same tonight? Will it be grinding or will it be high scoring?

Everyone knows that, right? Who impressed you most from game one? Was it Sam Walker? What really stood out for you?

Yeah, I was pretty excited to see Sammy get picked in the team because he's just got that...

The way the game is nowadays, it's just such a fast game and the way they do the six again and that sort of stuff.

And it enables guys like Sammy to really showcase what skills that he's got.

And I always knew that him getting picked in that team, he was going to end up having a great game.

And yeah, he does excite me because he's very spontaneous.

And I think that's what the game leads to today with the speed of it.

Is there no fear? Are there no nerves nowadays?

Was it common knowledge among players in the BRL that the, I guess the end was nigh?

Yeah, definitely.

And particularly at our club, because I think we had, I think that year we had like first and reserve grade go through to the grand finals.

And I think you look at that, it's probably about 26 to 30 players.

And I think we only lost about 25 players there.

We're going to Sydney-based clubs and, sorry, not Sydney-based clubs, to the New South Wales Rugby League competition.

So, I mean, even if we would have been devastated, we wouldn't have had a team next year anyway, brothers, because all of our players were moving on.

Was that your proudest moment? Obviously the miracle try was up there, but pulling off that series, what do you recall?
