And he was like, "Well, you, you're gonna have to learn 'cause you're gonna have to drive them to California tonight." And I was like, "[clears throat] Bruce, I don't have a s- I don't have any clothes.

I don't have a suit." He's like, "Doesn't matter," you know? And so then the next thing I know is I'm sitting in the driver's seat of the bus, and I'm like, [laughs] I'm completely, like, confused.

I don't know.

It's like a big old giant steering wheel and, and, uh, so I was like, "Okay, we gotta go, gotta go." So put the bus in reverse and start to back up, and I'm looking in the mirrors, you know, and I'm backing up, and all of a sudden I start to see these cars parked behind me.

I put on the brakes and the brakes don't work, and they're not catching, and bus is rolling back, and I'm about to crash right into these cars, and I'm...

Finally, the brakes catch and I stop.

Is there, like, an overarching lesson that you got from that time period? Was there something that you carried with you? Just a m- something that you've learned that you go back to and remember?

When my son Billy was five years old, he came to me one day and he said to me, Dad, I want to be a man.

I said, that's fantastic, son.

You keep eating your fruit and veg and you'll grow up big and strong and one day you will be a man just like me.

But that wasn't what he had in mind.

He said, no, Dad, I want to be a man today.

So I asked him how he was going to do that.
