And you can just ask.
44:40
Okay.
44:41
The other one that's blown me away, I had a student, um, who wanted to be a teaching assistant for me, and I always have more people that want to be TAs than there are spots.
44:51
So I have a student reach out, and she writes, "I was in this class, this section," right? Because again, she knows I'm teaching 250 students a semester.
45:01
And she said, "These are the grades that I received in your class, and I wrote the case that you shared as the example.
45:09
And when we did this class, I was the one that shared that example, and I am now in the top 5% of this." And then this is the part that got me.
45:18
And she said, "I understand that the job is grading papers, and I still want that job.

And so, Professor Cooley, what do you believe the skills are that actually matter, and what are some things you want anyone that is looking for a job or thinking about changing jobs, what do they need to know in order to stand out and get hired?
17:12
Mm-hmm
17:12
... you know, a, a, a peak moment, and you can take lessons with friends.
17:17
It gets you together.
17:18
You can buy really affordable sets on Amazon.
17:22
Um, I think there's a reason pickleball is so popular, because you don't need huge amounts of skill.
17:27
You can show up on a court.
17:28
There's hundreds of thousands of courts at this point.

A- and I wonder if we're just putting up imaginary blockers in front of ourselves, or if there are things that we can be doing differently in how we set our cities up to make this more feasible.
6:38
It's a great question, and coming back from Denmark, I almost had reverse culture shock because as you, uh, allude to, everything about Copenhagen and Denmark invites one to partake in leisure, and not every city [laughs] does this as a first priority.
6:55
And when I returned, I wanted to see if I could really rebuild my own life in a way that resembled the Danes, even though the system in the States looks nothing like that.
7:07
And I have to say, I have been so pleasantly surprised by all of the hobby communities that I've encountered.
7:15
It turns out that a lot of the addiction to work was self-induced by me, and there are all of these Americans [laughs] that are happily enjoying a work-life balance.
8:06
What a metric.
8:07
And so there's a, [laughs] there's a part of me that just doesn't take the excuse of I don't have time when I'm constantly l- looking at the data of content consumed.
8:20
So that is one challenge that I would put out there, is just how much time are we losing, um, to the algorithm.
