I tried to come up with a lovely, well-structured opening question that hints at why we're talking to you today, but I actually can't come up with anything other than, can you just tell us your story?
2:27
OK, right.
2:29
Once upon a time, yeah.
2:32
Well, I would have been...
2:36
I am 74 years old now.
2:39
And five years ago, I was a very active person, playing sport and going to exercise classes, swimming and what have you.
2:51
And one day at a Pilates class, at the end of the class...
5:33
I know,
1:37
But you've also talked about the pride in representing your country.
1:44
Oh, absolutely.
1:45
And my little place in Lichensh, County Clare, you know what I mean, in Ireland.
1:49
It's a great feeling and it's a great honour to be able to do it.
1:53
So, you know, and for everybody that has been there with me, you know, and supported me and, you know, urged me on.
2:00
It's fantastic.
2:02
And it's a great urge for myself too, you know, to be able to take part in these.

5 MINS LATER

7:08
So which events did you earn those in?
2:04
So it's a decent icebreaker.
2:07
Absolutely.
2:08
And every single person has their own story, you know, and their journey through this.
2:12
I mean, this year I'm 28 years transplanted, you know, and you meet people, they are just have been transplanted six months and listening to their stories.
2:21
You know, it's just, it's an important week for me because I enjoy it.
2:25
I enjoy meeting, you know, people like myself, like it's our family, it's our little, it's our own group, even though there'll be over 15,000 athletes there, you know, transplant people and everything.
2:37
living donors and, you know, people on dialysis as well.
3:02
Even though it has been 28 years since your second kidney transplant, does it feel like yesterday, in a sense, when you think back to the difficulty of that period, the waiting and wondering if you were going to get a transplant, and then receiving the call or the news that a donor kidney had become available?
