So what advice do you have for someone who wants to pursue this as a career? What do you wish you had known when you started out on this path?

So what kind of got me interested in aviation just to begin with was like flight simulator stuff and knowing how if you practice like you want to do the job in the real world, it's so much more beneficial than just playing a game.

I think with that, that's a pretty important thing that it would have been nice to know starting out initially.

As I moved from flight simulator to a thing called VATSIM, which is the Virtual Air Traffic Controller Simulation Network, I started that in the eighth grade.

And so you have people flying on simulators, and then you're controlling them from your computer, you know, on like radar software and whatever, which is very similar to the real world.

And they have similar standard operating procedures, standard letters of agreement, because they FOIA'd all that stuff, Freedom of Information Act, all that stuff.

So you're seeing a majority of the real world operations And you get to practice like you're actually doing the job, which I think is really cool.

Which I guess brings up the question to me, how do I know if it's a good fit for me? Are there certain personality types or skills that make me a good candidate for ATC? Or do you think anybody can be trained to be a good controller?

Is that like a bad day, or is that just like, eh, it's fine, pilot, you just vector them around it?

Whenever I first got certified, I would say that a big line of weather, worst day, because it's a lot more work.

But now that you do this, the same line of weather comes through every two weeks.

So you just get used to it, and you're like, okay, well, here we go.
