So this analogy I use quite often, and I think it relates to stance or alignment.

And I think my kind of age-old adage that I try to beat into everybody's head is that water skiing is positional.

And what I mean by that is the difference between somebody on an inner tube behind a boat at the mercy of the driver and just somebody being on a water ski.

The difference is the person on a water ski has free reign or agency to be able to move their mass and fall in the direction they want to go and to control the outcomes of where they go.

And all of that goes back to and rest on top of a foundation of how are you standing in on the ski.

Marcus, then, so what, what is that position? Because if you look at, well, to say the way Whitney stands on her ski versus the way Charlie Ross stands on their ski, like there, there are, you know, you could just push pause at the first wake and you're going to see a difference, but they're both doing what, like, like how can they both have either perfect stances or near perfect stances, even if they don't look the same.

What's the New Orleans versus the rest of the world calculus for visual arts, and for you in particular?

I feel like we have an incredible local visual art community here.

Unfortunately, I feel like we don't have the level of investment that we need in New Orleans for the visual arts.

I guess some musicians might say the same thing, that we are very proud of it, we have a great music community.

But the financial backing that we really need here to really promote the visual arts and to be proud of our visual artists here, we need more support than we definitely have right now.

So I would say that there's definitely some cities across the United States that I think we can look at.

I mean, New York being one of them for sure.

It is fascinating.

But, you know, the one that I just opened that I'm really excited about is Docs Noirs, which is Black Harbor.

And it's about the essentially it's about the black dock workers and how that was a underground railroad network.

And so I've worked with Dr. Marcus Reidecker, who's an author and historian, and he just put out a book called Freedom Ship.

And it talks a lot about all of the different enslaved people who've escaped slavery via a maritime means.
