When does that stage happen?

Dude, you guys have such a special place in my heart, you don't even realize it.

I was in the pandemic.

I had a panic attack in my house.

And it was interesting.

I got to school, and I remember being one of the only Latinos there, and I took their little Spanish test, and I tested out.

It was too easy.

And then I thought to myself, like, 'cause they said you don't have to take a Spanish class.

I thought to myself, "I've never been the smartest kid-

I think he just grabbed the mic and went, "Bing, boom.

You go, "Great." So I sit down and it's empty, and they're like, "Five minutes." I'm like this

thisAnd then they go, "Everybody sit down." And then I'm waiting for Bill Murray, and then this fucking seat filler comes in.

[laughs] He goes, "I can't believe I'm sitting here." I'm a seat filler.

I go, "No fucking shit.

I can't believe it either." And he was- Where's Bill Mur- He was Mexican? No.

He goes, "I can't believe I'm sitting here." No, I said that so fast.

[laughs] "I can't believe it." [laughs] Wow.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

And there was this guy, uh, Bo Smith, and his partner Tom Roche, and they were this lovely gay couple, and they were so fun and cool.

And they'd had this class, and they'd like, "You can perform whatever you want, and then one day everyone's gonna try some Shakespeare." And so people were doing, you know, monologues from famous movies, you know, Wolf of Wall Street or whatever.

And then, um, one day he noticed, like, everybody was acting kind of, like, soft.

You know, like they weren't really giving it up for him.

And he goes...

And he's, like, you know, in his late 60s at the time maybe.

[laughs]

Uh-huh.

Um, and, uh,

well, I have it.

You could, you would be perfect for it.

Oh my God, we should make it.

Um, and so I brought him to SNL and he got to hang out.

And then I had, um, I had a, a, a theology teacher who Mr. Franzi is based on.

[laughs] It doesn't work out, okay? They came to America with the same idea, just a little bit different, you know? My mom got here, and she was like, "Oh, my God.

Look at all of these opportunities."

And it was interesting.

Marcello, what was your initial reaction to the recent news that Chloe Fineman would be leaving SNL?

Oh, um, well, I'm, uh, just excited for Chloe.

I think the, the way that people send that message is really important and, uh, the way that she sent that message was that she's excited for her next chapter.

And, um, if she's excited, I'm excited.

I love to see that her emotion is that she's ready for her next step in her career, and I'm excited for her.

Chloe and I have a handshake, and, uh, we go like this.

We go one, two, and yaga down.

I had a blast talking to him and hanging with him and, um, yeah, man.

We were gonna go out yesterday, but he ditched, he ditched.

He went to sleep, you know? 'Cause he was walking around a lot in the stadium, I think he got tired and he had to go to sleep.

You think they're gonna contend right now.

Listen, I, when you put Giannis on a team, they become an immediate contender.

Oh, sh- I already jumped the gun on that one.

And, um, for tomorrow I pray that you please give me the opportunity to have a amazing screening for my special, and that everybody comes and that they enjoy it, and that they feel identified, and that they feel that they had a moment of release and that they laugh.

And I also pray that, um, tomorrow you, um, keep everybody safe in my family and in my friends, and that my girlfriend has a safe flight from New York to LA to come, uh, see the screening.

And I pray that, uh, tomorrow you also, um, remind me whenever I can to help other people, um, when it's possible.

We have this nice little apartment in Miami.

Now I'm like, "Okay, I moved out.
