What's the core therapeutic concept behind targeted radiotherapeutics in CNS cancer? And why is that approach particularly relevant for tumors focused within the CNS?
16:15
So I think just an important point to emphasize, and that is if you look across cancer, all CNS cancers and ask, what's been the best seat in a bad movie? What's the thing that has worked the best in these patients, even though it's not great? And as I mentioned, these patients generally don't do well.
16:43
But what has worked the best, and that's been radiation.
16:47
The problem with radiation, though, is that the amount of radiation, the dose that's delivered to the tumor, in other words, is limited by a number of factors.
16:57
So five years ago, we... made the determination that if we can deliver more radiation in a targeted way, in other words, higher dose to the tumor with minimal radiation delivered to normal brain and normal tissues, that we have a chance at improving outcomes and improving tumor control.
17:19
And that's indeed what Ray Albeck has shown the ability to do in early to mid-stage trials, deliver 10 to 20 times the amount of radiation that can be delivered by the best that medicine has to offer today, which is some form of external beam radiation.
17:37
And so we found that, A, feasibility, we can deliver that amount of radiation effectively.

How do you really aim to create and change that balance with Rheobic?
7:13
And so what are you addressing with your work?
7:17
Let me kind of take the question in two ways.
7:20
So when I say central nervous system, you know, that's the brain and spinal cord and the surrounding tissues.
7:26
And those are behind something called the blood brain barrier.
7:30
And that keeps poisons and toxins out of the brain.
7:33
But once cancer gets beyond that or starts beyond that and is established, it becomes very difficult to treat for a variety of reasons.
7:43
You can simply divide up cancers in the central nervous system into those that originate there.

Where is that on the clinical trial pathway?
