The five things that we recommend for people, like if you want to increase their exit value one would be high margin um second would be good levels of recurring revenue in the business so you've got a repeating income third would be a good business model so you've actually got a savvy model where you know how you actually make money fourth would be low client concentration so you're not overly reliant on two to three clients and the fifth would be minimal involvement as a director so you don't it doesn't really require much input from you um to actually own and operate the business because no one wants to buy a job they want to buy a business what are your thoughts on them do they stack or am i missing something
2:04
No, they completely stack.
2:06
And they typically, you know, they're 100% stack.
2:09
And I would say we both do a similar, we do the same thing, Josh, but I'm the world's laziest investor because one of the byproducts of having cancer and being told you've got six months to live.
2:22
By the way, that was five years ago, by the way, so I'm out of that now and I'm lucky to have survived.
2:26
No chemo, no drugs or anything.
2:28
We can talk about that another time.
5:18
What's your perspective on that? How do you minimize that risk?

you know,
4:24
to be with your family for a bit of extra time, you give anything for it.
4:27
So I went in for the op in January 2021, but while I was there, I got the original strain of COVID pre-vaccine.
4:33
So now I've got that to deal with as well as major surgery.
4:36
And so going through that, day five or day six, if you remember, was around the time that you were going to figure out whether it was left or right, because they were the worst days, as was the case for me.
4:48
And I got a lucky break.
4:49
A friend of mine called me on a deal that we were trying to do on the West Coast.

16:13
What do you do? How do you frame it? How do you set up the outcome? You know, what happens? What are some of the process steps?
3:20
And then I'm going to try to get in your head and say, teach us to understand business owners and to communicate with them better.
3:27
Yeah, well, I can only speak from what it is that we do in the hope that a piece of that might provide a hook or something that some of your audience could use.
3:40
So if I start with framing what it is that we do, and then I'll take you back to how we started that because it's somewhat unique.
3:47
So what we do is help a business owner double the value of their business in less than six months without them having any equity dilution which is unique in its own right, without them having any debt service, because they're not borrowing any money to grow, and without them signing any PGs.
4:16
So immediately, if any of your audience were to talk to a founder and say, we can do this, they'd want to know how, because it's a very unusual, never heard it before proposition.
4:27
It's so good, it's got to be a scam, but it isn't.
4:30
Now how we got to that, how we got to that was if I take you back to 2020, we were beginning to...

14 MINS LATER

18:18
Is it fair to assume that most business owners sell based on some like triggering event where they're kind of rushed into it? Or do a lot of business owners think about this years in advance, start planning? What's been your experience?
1:41
How did you get started?
1:43
Well, how did I get started? Well, I'll break it into two.
1:46
Let me give you how this got started.
1:48
And then if you want to know how I got started, I can bore you with that too.
1:52
Okay.
1:52
If I take you back with me.
1:54
So first of all, Seth, this was accidental, man.

11 MINS LATER

13:12
well congratulations you've had an incredible journey and obviously i'm glad that you're healthy and able to be helping others so much um can you um explain the double and keep it blueprint
