What funding or mechanisms from the government would you find helpful for creators like yourself?
14:25
Like that I wish would exist? Yeah.
14:26
Okay.
14:27
So I was going to say point number one is I do think that right now we're still in a space where government and business support type of incubators do not understand this space still, both for creators and online businesses.
14:40
So that's one thing I would say at the gate is there is a lack of resources of any time you try to apply for a grant.
14:46
It's harder for them to conceptualize what the business is, what the impact is.
14:50
A lot of people don't realize that especially creators are essentially personal brands, but personal brands can employ a lot of people.

12 MINS LATER

26:32
Do you think something like that is needed? Or because creators sometimes work in isolation, it's not necessarily an aspect that would be accepted?
19:39
You're actually actively resisting it."
19:41
Absolutely.
19:42
I feel like I...
19:42
That was a Post-It note on my computer [laughs] all of last year.
19:46
So I th- I think...
19:47
And that's something that I've, even though, like I said, this was almost seven years ago that I changed how I was running my business, still six years later, I needed the reminder again that it's okay to move into that next chapter.
19:59
And so I think that's a really big part of it.

6 MINS LATER

26:13
Can you unpack a little bit of what you're doing with your brand-new business for this season to help people not just design their work life, but their investment life to support their life?
27:42
Mm-hmm.
27:42
So we were like, "What's the closest way to learn it?" So he got his license and started trading.
27:46
And so I feel like that alone gave us an in because we better understood, like, what makes a good offer.
27:52
Um, we had a good idea of the market, so when we saw a house that was a good opportunity, we knew how to jump on it.
27:58
So that would be kind of that pre-step one.
28:01
And then in the business, um, I was focusing on putting all of that revenue, essentially anything that wasn't covering my bills was going towards that down payment.
28:11
So we purchased the first house, and we were really lucky too in that at the time where we lived, real estate really had a spike, which happened for a lot of places-

26 MINS LATER

54:19
Mm.
5:04
um back
5:05
better than ever and what what brought you back to craft and commerce honestly the people yeah like that was a big one it's so funny because 2019 i came as like a friend's extra pass and i knew literally no one And I hadn't gone to a lot of things in this space.
5:19
I was kind of transitioning from my first business to this business.
5:22
And so it was so interesting to like have that experience and then come back and be like, wow, I know so many people from like so many different worlds.
5:28
Like it feels like all my worlds are colliding here.
5:31
So that's really fun.
5:32
And I feel like events like these are cool where you can have all these people that live in different places and be able to like hug them all in one spot.
5:48
Like, I'm not walking into a room full of
2:49
I was
2:49
like, this is going to be the intro to my presentation tomorrow.
2:52
So just like erase it overnight.
2:55
I'll give like the shorter version.
2:58
I knew that I really liked business early on.
3:00
Like in high school, I planned my prom.
3:02
I did like all the fundraising events at my school.

12 MINS LATER

14:37
Give it a try and we will leave a link in the show notes for you to give Acrobat a try today.
11:07
Right.
11:07
Sometimes it's not just asking them after the fact.
11:10
If I had sent you an e-book and I was like, "How was that?" And you're like, "It was great," and you're, like, crying and sweating 'cause it was so overwhelming, I wouldn't know, right? But having that live feedback, that's why we really like these, like, quick what can you put together, and what's l- a little revamp to test maybe that new direction you're feeling.

18 MINS LATER

29:19
No.
29:19
So you'll have access to the replay if you ever wanna go back to the workshops, but also you have a workbook that you can complete as, partially as you're listening, but also after when you walk away.
29:28
It's gonna make sure that you can really take steps with each piece of that, and that 90-day plan is going to make sure that you have that realistic timeline.
29:37
Obviously, you can edit a bit for yourself if you wanna go longer, but, um, we really positioned it in a way that should feel comfy for you.
11:02
Yeah.
11:02
I really think it's similar that way, that in one sense the best business idea is just one that you can take action on, and that's going to often be the first step, right? We think, "I have this, you know, business idea.
11:15
I'm scared, and I have to go for it." And again, it's gonna be that pass-fail.
11:19
But it's also okay if it's the business idea that gets you to the next thing.

27 MINS LATER

38:16
Yeah
38:16
... are actually challenges you continue to face.
38:19
So by taking that decision to work through them the first time, that does make you an entrepreneur.
38:24
That does put you in the right mindset to be a business owner, and it's a really important skill set, and you're gonna get better and better at it.
