We'll make sure we find a link and put that in the show notes, but could you give us a quick summary of why this plugin was introduced and what it does? Actually, let's start with what it does.
10:59
Yeah.
11:00
So it's a combination, we can get to the why after, but it's a combination of two things.
11:04
Sometimes we run into features when working in Core where it needs more testing or it needs a different pathway for experimentation where we can get people using it to figure out, like, the right approach.
11:15
You'll see this with things like real-time collaboration or with AI performance.
11:19
And working for a while in the project, I noticed we were coming up on those situations, and then it would stall or dead-end because we didn't have a very clean or clear pathway to do that, and that's a bummer.
11:31
Combined with that, I hear from a lot of different people, especially when I was running the Full Site Editing outreach program, around shared accessibility needs, whether it's an agency, higher ed, a business owner who's trying to basically be like, "What do you recommend I use, and how can I use something that's well-supported and that we can adopt?" And I saw a lot of duplicate solutions being used.
14:24
Okay, so we're back, and why don't you tell us a little bit more about what you were thinking before I so rudely interrupted you?
3:11
Any idea how many years that would tie it up for? Are we talking an actual sale here of that facility for $6.5 million or are we talking a lease?
3:22
A sale, a complete sale.
3:24
In speaking with OSCO, this was agreed that they would offer it to the Commonwealth as much as the Northern Territory Government.
3:34
And I thought it was a pretty sensible step to go in partnership with the Northern Territory Government, which I have genuinely tried to do in good faith, trying to work with Minister Robin Carl.
3:47
And unfortunately, it just seems to be going... off the rails with a lot of information that I believe is incorrect.
3:55
And I do think it can be corrected.
3:56
And I did write to the Chief Minister after I heard her comments on your program yesterday, Katie, just to ensure that she had the correct information.
5:53
What do you say to that?
7:46
Ooh.
7:46
Um, and I wanna make it very clear, styling, uh, [laughs] not full editing.
7:50
But I actually did a podcast yesterday, and one of the things that I think is really cool with this release, um, there's a couple things, but one, if you zoom out and look at the last couple releases, you'll see the way features build on each other, and I always encourage people to do that and wanna shout that out.
8:04
So for example, like notes, you could add notes to entire blocks.
8:08
In this release, you'll be able to add them in line.
8:09
You'll be able to use rich text.
8:10
You'll be able to have @ mentions and @ mention people.

26 MINS LATER

33:56
Mm.
4:07
So Australia is, quote, "already past the halfway point." Uh, given only three targets are on track to be met, is there a significant change in approach required to hit those milestones?
4:21
Well, there has been in terms of certainly my role with the remote and regional parts of Australia, Sally.
4:28
I've really focused a lot on the employment statistics, improving poverty, uh, trying to elevate people in our communities out of poverty, knowing that that is a critical part of some of the overall issues behind the figures that we see, and also improving housing.
4:44
What we've done at the federal level is to see, uh, 3,000 jobs rolled out across, uh, remote Australia with another 3,000 jobs on top of that, plus the reduction in the cost of living with the food security.
4:58
So we have, uh, around 120 stores across remote Australia that are now providing food at half the price.
5:06
So these will contribute to those statistics, but it will take us time to see it come through.
5:55
Do you think financial penalties are needed to make Closing the Gap targets a reality?
6:01
reality? It's certainly something that I've followed through, Sally.
6:08
Let's take a look.
6:10
So the first one I'm going to demo is actually I'm doing this on my personal site just because I like to see real content.
6:17
I don't know.
6:18
I'm a nerd, and I like to see things as they actually are.
6:20
And so this is looking at responsive styling.
6:23
And so I actually added these changes.
6:26
I test everything every day, multiple times a day.

14 MINS LATER

20:57
That's been a challenge just based on what server technology, right? Like, how do you make this thing work on a shared low cost server in addition to the high enterprise load balancing, you know, high tech install? So how is that been going? And I mean, I know it's not going to hit 7.1, but do you see progress in that area? Yeah.
1:31
What's your message to, uh, members of the community, uh, who may have been involved in that violence?
1:39
Oh, look, I would certainly say to, to families there's been absolutely deep trauma, and we're still going through that, Sally.
1:47
Uh, whether you're family or not and have been a part of the volunteers walking, whether you're a police officer who's been there for days and days, everyone is impacted by what has occurred here in this past week, and, uh, it's important that we just look out for one another.
2:05
I will certainly be, uh, talking with, uh, leadership groups today around Alice.
2:11
Uh, we're going to come together at around 10 o'clock, um, you know, to, to meet with Congress, with the Tangentyere Council, with Northern Territory police, uh, just to sort of be together.
2:24
Uh, there needs to be calm, and there needs to be a proper process now in terms of this, uh, criminal investigation.
2:32
Uh, and it must not be jeopardized, uh, by foolishness, uh, in terms of, uh, uh, the, the work that has to be done for police and by police to get this investigation done appropriately.
4:42
A- are you worried that things could still escalate further in Alice Springs?
