So I set TaxKey up 10 years ago as a specialist tax practice.

I suppose really at that stage, I had seen a lot of businesses who weren't being advised in terms of succession planning, exiting exactly as you said there.

They were busy in the business, building the business.

But what happens next? when they want to get out or when they need to retire.

And that was coming up as, I suppose, not necessarily always a last-minute decision, but it was always put in the back burner.

But Mairead, how far in advance should an owner really start thinking about their exit? And, you know, what are the biggest misconceptions around that timeline of thinking about the exit plan?
