So do you, you, do you think that the way she was vilified, um, was fair?
17:19
Yeah, you know, I, I would say that if someone said, "Hey, what's the thing that was the most unexpected thing about making this documentary?" To me, it was honestly Rachel's awareness of how bad she was going to do at the Olympics.
17:34
Like, I...
17:35
She, uh, uh, to me, I thought, h- knowing very little when I started this story, that by and large, you're so used to athletes being like, "I'm going for gold.
17:43
I'm gonna win.
17:44
I'm gonna give it my best." That's realistic.
17:46
If I, if, if, if I don't believe I can do that, then I won't do that, so there's no talk of that.
21:33
How would you describe, uh, their relationship and, um, and, and what it was about their connectivity that took her to the games?
1:20
How long did it take you all to put this project together?
1:24
Yeah, so this one, it started about exactly two years ago.
1:27
And it was interesting because we've done a lot of work with Netflix and doing documentaries for them for years now.
1:35
And we've always developed our own materials and brought it to them and had a conversation.
1:39
But this was the first time that they ever had access to something that they called us about.
1:43
So it was interesting.
1:44
We got a phone call from a close executive of ours there, and he gave us kind of the quick pitch, which was, hey, I got Jerry Jones – full access to the Dallas Cowboys.
6:11
mean, Mac, how would you describe Jerry Jones as a character in the film?
30:05
think that
30:06
the access to both Jerry and Jimmy was fundamental and crucial to why we wanted to make this documentary series.
30:13
And I know that they've spoken at length almost separately about their relationship.
30:18
And then when they have gotten together to chat about it, it's maybe like a short segment that they did on Fox.
30:25
But for us, our opportunity was we got to sit down with Jimmy for a full day, I think seven hours of interviews.
30:31
And we filmed with them a couple more days.
30:33
And then Jerry, we interviewed for about 40 hours.
33:20
You would think you could get any coach that you wanted to coach these teams.
28:48
Mm-hmm.
28:48
... more days.
28:49
And then Jerry we interviewed for about 40 hours.
28:51
So, for us, the opportunity to go deep with these guys was really what drew us to it.
28:56
And, and obviously, I know that it's been covered for years, and I think that this is...
29:00
there is an element of this that's true, which is their egos got too big.
29:03
They had a massive credit, um, argument and they tried to claim more credit than the other one felt, and I certainly think that that's a part of their story.
31:36
You would think you could get any coach that you wanted to coach these teams.
25:36
Mm-hmm.
25:36
... more days.
25:37
