Tell us about the Interfaith Federation.
33:35
Hi.
33:35
Good morning, Jim.
33:36
Thank you for having me.
33:37
So the Interfaith Federation was founded 40 years ago.
33:42
Our founding executive director, Reverend Jeff Day, and more members of the community, um, got together at the B'nai Israel Synagogue and found a way to formulate a organization that could support our community around peace, justice, and unity.
34:00
And so what we do is that we bring different faith-based communities together in order to help sup- people who are suffering in the city of Baton Rouge.

I suspect you're looking to grow the, the federation.
12:29
Right.

One of the biggest struggles that I saw my mother face and my grandmother face was the challenge of parenting faith.
12:39
And I say that because within our households, we are trying to teach our children the best practices that they should follow.
12:52
But then you're fighting commercialism and you're fighting some of the exposure they have to the commercialized version of our holidays within the school system.
13:03
And so you're saying, you know, Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
13:07
But then as we walk the aisles of some of our stores, our kids see the the colorful, you know, gifts and gift wrapping paper.
13:16
And then they go to school and their friends have gifts and they don't.
