So if you look at be- your best lessons and where you can move from Asia as you're entering Africa, what are those, and what's the difference and what makes each system work differently and also together?
27:37
Good question, and I think it relates to what Leah has just been telling us.
27:42
We started over 40 years ago in Asia, in the Philippines exactly, where we started developing the first hybrid vegetables for that market because basically the, the available seeds at that time were of low quality or they were developed for other climatic systems basically.
27:57
We first launched a hybrid bitter gourd, which is a typical local crop, and although it was of high quality, we soon learned that it's important to, uh, give farmers a bit more than just the quality seeds.
28:10
So in order to make farmers adopt quality seeds, we learned we have to give them the training to basically maximize the potential of those seeds, so learn with basic agronomic techniques, uh, work with them on, uh, integrated pest management, and do all that.
28:26
Another thing that's, uh, we found was very important is also, again, just pushing seeds into the market is not enough.
28:33
It's about the market demand, as Leah also emphasized.

How do you ensure your farmers have the right seeds, whether it's climate or any other issue, and how do you make sure they're resilient?
