Why is representation in AI decision-making a business and a risk issue, not just a diversity issue?

I'll use an example.

So an example where there hasn't been enough representation of people in the business that have been making the decisions around the technology that's been developed.

So I'll use an example, and it's a health one, you know, whereby a tool that was an AI-powered tool that was developed for clinicians, dermatologists, this one was, to identify melanomas and skin.

So the tool has been developed within an engineering environment.

The decision has been made to go to market with this tool from an engineering lens.

yeah i think this might come from past conversations with our our mutual friend kobe um who shout out she used to be she used to host this podcast so she talked a lot about the maybe i've not and forgive me i'm paraphrasing here but the importance of creating a psychologically safe space to call things out which has to be that top-down encouragement that has to be the culture that's created because you can just imagine it an AI product it's getting ready for launch there's a lot of money there's a lot of investors a lot of backing that young associate or whoever might be in the room is that a safe space to call out that they notice something is not going to be suitable for all it's not representative of all And I think coming back to, you know, you mentioned that top-down, do you have any practical tips or, you know, anything you can share with technology leaders about how to actually drive that change, whether it's in hiring, team design, or how decisions get made? Um, and I've just been reflecting on why does it particularly... why does diversity matter particularly when it comes to AI? What, what do you think is making this different to other areas of tech, or is it? Is it just the same but just slightly more supercharged because all focus is on it?

What's a portfolio career you've had? Can we just look, I always love to see if there's a theme and a thread throughout your career, but to be a BMX champion, I can imagine that set you up with a lot of resilience and maybe you don't have as much fear as some other people, but talk us through your career and what's led you to where you are today.
