How did you get to this point? But you had some stopping points along

the way.

Sure, absolutely.

So I graduated from seminary in St. Louis, and first call was to this amazing congregation in Michigan.

loved it.

It was wonderful, and then the Lord just kind of made things clear.

I was ready to be in a more senior or sole pastor role.

You're activating their faith.

Mm-hmm

... you know, too.

There had to be one.

You know, a lot of this stuff is about my wife and my kid, and we just sort of needed that in the mix, I think, if we were gonna tell the real story.

Um, and so yeah, she came to the studio.

We sat down and were just hanging out, m- not even like, no pressure to get anything done, and we ended up writing three songs in two hours.

And the next two days, we cut two of those songs, and we were kinda like, "I think this is how we're gonna do this." And so she just kept coming to the sessions, and we would write after, and then if we got something we wanted to cut the next day, we'd all get back in there in the morning and finish the song and then, and c- cut it that day.

Yeah.

It ki- it came about in the weirdest way.

I, I literally was on set one day and get a call out of the blue from this manager, this music manager, uh, Matt Graham, who's a great manager and a really good friend of mine.

But he called and said, "Hey, I know you don't know who I am, but I know that you're a musician, and, you know, I, I love Yellowstone.

I love you in that show.

Would...

Oh, really?

Not

walking away, but when the original show ended, I thought that was it.

I thought that ended perfectly for him.

The story had the perfect beginning, middle, and end, and that's it.

And Rip and Beth had already got their offers for their spinoff, and I hadn't heard anything.

So I also just figured, you know, on their side, they were done too.

And then I got the call about doing Marshalls.
