But, Lourdes, what were the most challenging issues that you had to address in restoring and preserving this building?

Well, everything about it, but a combination of things, starting with the building code, because, of course, this wasn't just a little patchwork repair.

It's a historic building, so there's a lot of exceptions that you're allowed because it's a historic building.

But this was a full-blown renovation, restoration, so you couldn't bypass things.

So we had to add an extra stair because there's not enough stairs, exits, etc.

We had to really look at the utilities, of course, as a 100-year-old building.

It had been restored probably in the 80s by actually R.J. Heisenbottle, who is our partner on this project, worked on that original restoration.
