Louise Creaven

Oct 9, 2026

0:27
It was amazing.
0:28
Yeah, we both went to war.
0:29
You know, we both wanted it just as much.
0:30
And, you know, yeah, Christina came on top, and she's very tough, and wish her nothing but the best.
0:35
But yeah, hopefully we'll be back, and yeah, we'll make it again, so.
0:39
But we did, we made history, and you know, we'll carry that with us forever, so very proud of it.
1:00
Just a word for everybody in Killimer Daily and in Galway who have been behind you.
1:04
No, I just have a few words, actually, and the first one is just a big, big thank you.
4:57
And I think that must be something that you must be delighted with as well.
5:01
Yeah, of course.
5:02
And that's the thing, too, is like, you know, there's no point talking shit about each other.
5:06
None of that stuff.
5:07
You know, it's at the end of the day, it's what happens in the ring.
5:10
And, you know, it is like you say, we're both professionals and we can have that respect for each other.
5:17
Maybe not so much like during the rounds, a bit different, I suppose.

6 MINS LATER

11:13
Even when you're fighting Australia, they've been behind you.

9:37
Talk to us where boxing came into your life, Louise, and how did you find it or did it find you?
9:43
Yeah, it definitely found me, but that only happened when I moved over here.
9:46
Back home, like in Galway, like I said, yeah, it's all about the hurling, the football and stuff.
9:51
The only boxing I knew was the boxing with my brother and sisters.
9:57
But yeah, when I moved over here about three years afterwards, I just started training at the gym and the trainer in there, he approached me.
10:05
He said he was doing a white color boxing show if I wanted to try it out.
10:09
And I was like, yeah, I'll give it a go and see what it's like.

12:03
How does that life, those issues and that battle that you had with your eating disorder, and how does that then start to affect, it's affecting every stage of your life, but in terms of boxing whole weight and making weight, did it exasperate it or did it allow you a little bit of an exit from it or how did it balance if it did at all?
3:58
Does that now make it all the more sweet that you are going to go into this fight with Christina Desmond on the back of a very impressive win over a tough opponent? And now it makes October the 9th all the more special, not only because history is being made and it's the first ever Irish professional women's title fight, but that it's going to mean you coming in after a win, Christina Desmond's unbeaten and now it's kind of the stars are aligning to use that term of what could be a fantastic fight.
4:31
Yeah, 100%.
4:33
The fight on Wednesday as well was more, I wanted that fight too so that I can have more of this momentum going into the fight in Ireland.
4:41
And I guess because there would have been such a big gap from April to October for me.
4:47
So yeah, this is a massive, massive moment to have.
4:51
And it does, it makes it all more sweet to go home in October.
4:54
And I suppose the two of us are going to want to go out there and make a statement about, And I think it'll come down to who wants it the most.
7:52
And I want to just ask, what do you do now as regards preparation? Do you continue the kind of training regime that you had coming up to last Wednesday? Or do you bring it up a level? What's your coach's plans for you for the next couple of weeks?
0:00
It was great to be on a no limit show here.
0:02
It's a big stepping stone for me.
0:04
One hopefully opens the door to getting onto some of the bigger cards.
0:07
The fight itself probably wasn't exactly what we expected, but we had a game plan going into it.
0:13
Felt like we executed it really well.
0:15
To get the stoppage as well was a nice bonus and a great way to finish the night.
1:44
Where did that decision come to box? First of all, amateur and then go as a pro.
1:48
Yeah, I was over in Australia for about two years and then I was just in the gym one day and was approached by the trainer and they were doing one of those charity boxing events.
2:01
White collar ones.
2:02
Like a white collar boxing, yeah.
2:03
So we trained for eight weeks and then I was like, just from the second I even put on the gloves, I absolutely loved it.
2:10
Like I loved that feeling, everything about it.
2:13
And then I unfortunately was...
5:07
And I mean, Sheila Yama was one that was, which it was your first loss, but it was a, it was a huge fight for you in the sense that you were now going up, definitely going up as regards to the standard of boxer because she's very highly rated, you know, and, and, you know, Jess Messina is world known for, and they're the only two losses you've had I've been against top class world fighters
