Stuart.

Stuart.
0:14
Well, to be fair, Stuart's just being Stuart.

So the issue I have isn't so much his resignation was accepted, it really is about why he was accepted as a candidate by New Zealand First in the first place.
0:29
That's what I think the big issue should be.
0:31
He's playing to type, but we all knew that and they still selected him.
0:37
So Winston needs to front up about it personally.

Thoughts? I mean, what's wrong with air-con, which would do everybody, would be mine.
16:07
And for you, having directly shaped some of that history, looking across the different pieces of law reform you've been part of, what feels most meaningful or enduring to you now?
16:21
Well, Felicia, all of it is meaningful.
16:23
I really think that homosexual law reform was the domino that then enabled everything that has come after that.
16:32
So for me, it's all been meaningful because it's been off the backs of our community, our work, our aspiration, our advocacy, not only for ourselves, but those who come after us.
16:45
But obviously, when I think about my specific experience reforms then the marriage equality legislation was something that I was intimately involved in having had a bill picked out of a member's ballot and I have to acknowledge that Kevin Haig had a bill addressing the same kaupapa at the same time.
17:05
I was just fortunate my bill was the bill that was picked but I wanted to just pick up on something that you highlighted earlier about personhood and And one of the things that people may not know is when we were looking at the Marriage Amendment Bill, in the end we added a definition of marriage.
17:23
Marriage is between two people regardless of their sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

And for communities watching rights being actively contested in this government or in Parliament right now, What do you want people to better understand about how lawmaking actually works, especially when it comes to progressing rights?
38:09
What did you think of that?
38:11
Tēnā kōrua.
38:12
Thank you, Bernard, for the opportunity to come and have a kōrero.
38:16
Yes, in my previous role with Simon O'Connor, actually, we became the inaugural chairs of the New Zealand Parliament IPAC branch, I'll call us.
38:26
And I just wanted to know, it's a very significant day today.
38:29
It's the 37th anniversary of the Tenement Square, yes, crackdown, I think the history books say.
38:39
And obviously that was about citizens demonstrating and being pro- democracy for their rights and their ability to kind of use their voices collectively.

What can you tell us about how China is operating in Xinjiang and how the rest of the world maybe has not taken as much notice of it, particularly in buying imports from those people who have been forced to make them?
