You're something, as I understand it, called leave it blank, which I guess is the middle between voting for Mike Rogers, as Dems for Rogers suggests, and voting for Abdul, right?
6:33
Well, thanks for having me on the show.
6:35
Look, I want to make very clear here.
6:37
I am not a Democrat for Mike Rogers.
6:39
I am not voting for Mike Rogers.
6:41
I'm not encouraging anyone to.
6:45
However, there are individuals within our party that are uncomfortable with Abdul.
11:28
How dare you? What do you tell them?
23:13
How do the fringes take over a party like this?
23:18
Well, I think each side looks at the actions of the other side, unfortunately, and use that as a justification to replicate their tactics and take it one step further.
23:32
And we've seen an escalation of skepticism Incivility, to use the politest word, since about 2010.
23:44
We saw Republicans that were so angry at Obama, and they crowded out anyone.
23:53
They demanded purity tests.
23:55
They demanded loyalty to their side, and anybody that would not go with them, they expunged.
24:00
And it led to extremism within the Republican Party.
24:57
or not New York, or Oregon, or Washington State, this doesn't seem like who Michigan is.
23:13

5:01
Uh, how do the fringes take over a party like this?
5:07
Well, I think each side looks at the actions of the other side, unfortunately, and use that as a justification to replicate, and, uh, their tactics, and take it one step further.
5:20
And this, we've seen an escalation of, of, uh, of incivility, uh, to, to, to use the politest word, um, since about 2010.
5:32
You know, we saw Republicans that were so angry at Obama, um, and they, they crowded out any, um, anyone.
5:42
They, they demanded purity tests.
5:43
They demanded loyalty to their side, and anybody that would not go with them, they expunged, and it led to, uh, extremism within the Republican Party.
7:02
Right.
7:02
A state that sent Debbie Stabenow.
12:01
What do you say to people who... are willing to hold their nose and vote for El-Sayed because they believe that in the Senate, one person can't impose all of their ideas on the rest of the Senate, but that one person can still be a devote when it comes to important issues.
12:23
Well, that's a good question.
12:24
I'm not here to answer that in terms of – I'm not expressing a concern about one party taking over the Senate.
12:33
What I'm here is discussing the dignity of leaving the Senate race blank and not embracing an extreme – what I'd feel is an extreme candidate.
12:44
That – That is a moral choice made by me and many others, and I'm not here to discuss who wins or who loses in the Senate.
12:57
I believe that if Abdul is our senator in Michigan, I think we'll not be well served, and I don't believe that I should be made to vote for either of these two candidates.
16:09
How does that mesh together?
16:12
I don't answer for President Obama.
