Relying on one another was part of how life worked in late Waccamaw for generations.

There's a huge canal that was built back in the 40s for all the land where at least my house is.

And the folks who helped settle it, you know, they got things and they built their homes in trading with other communities like down the Waccamaw River.

And that's how business was done.

That's how life was lived.

that's carried on.

We learn quickly that we need to rely on each other and trust each other and figure out how to work together to stay stronger.

And after decades living in Columbus County, Lisa's also come to think differently about what public health means.
