And so I'm going to ask you, like I often enjoy asking, how did you first start getting into composition?

Oh my goodness.

Yeah, this is really meaningful in my life.

Just one of those things I didn't see coming and then wound up being really important to me.

And I was preparing a recital.

It was my first year living in New York.

I was doing my master's degree and it wasn't a degree recital, but I was putting together a totally unaccompanied program.

How can somebody like me, who doesn't write, help my students explore that creative side of themselves before it just atrophies, you know?
