Leslie BenitahGUEST
It's something it took me time to understand because I think after what they've gone through, after what they had gone through, it's not like they were showing love with so much, you know.

Leslie BenitahGUEST
I didn't have the type of grandparents that would be like, oh, sweetie, let me prepare this and that for you.

Leslie BenitahGUEST
No, no, no, no. was a totally different thing like for example do not cry like we don't cry for nothing like find a good reason to cry okay this is one thing second thing let's say i would be in the car with my grandma and after 15 minutes i'd be like can you stop the car i need to use the bathroom she'd be can't you hold it and force me to hold it like these were her like for her it was I understood that later, but I thought growing up, my gosh, she's so tough.

Leslie BenitahGUEST
I'm the granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors, so in many, many ways, this journey began long even before me.

Leslie BenitahGUEST
Like, fragmented memories, inherited trauma, and, and things that were felt far more than they were ever explained to me.

Leslie BenitahGUEST
And I don't know, my grandparents, like many survivors, did not really speak about what they had lived through, so I, I only grew up with bit- bits and pieces, you know.
