What do people need to know and have?
12:44
I mean, of course, there are lots and lots of ingredients that are needed for decluttering success.
12:48
But I think if we were to kind of put it down to three, first and foremost, we need to stop with the negative self-talk.
12:56
So many people, for lots of different reasons, have gone through life plagued with clutter and plagued with judgment as a result of that clutter.
13:04
And so we start to take all that on board and we respond to it.
13:09
And that means that sometimes we shrink into ourselves a little bit.
13:12
People have told us from being children sometimes, you're not good, you're not tidy, you need to tidy your room.
17:45
What's number two?
6:47
You know, you can pick and choose the different things that you're decluttering depending on how you're feeling.
6:53
Yeah, absolutely.
6:54
I think, I think in any decluttering project, it's really important to understand that there are some things that are easier than others emotionally.
7:03
So, you know, we are real advocates for starting in easier places and building up what we call your decluttering muscle to get to the more difficult spaces later once you've kind of practiced in easier rooms like a kitchen.
7:15
And a lot of people go, "Wow, you're saying the kitchen is easy." We're not saying any, any of this is easy.
7:20
But in a kitchen, for example, there are...
7:23
the decisions are a little bit more practical generally.

10 MINS LATER

17:19
[laughs]
6:08
Could you tell us a little bit about what is a professional organizer and, and how, you know, what, what do you do in your work?
6:14
Yeah.
6:15
So I've got two sides that I come to this, really.
6:17
So I mentioned before I set up my first business, The Clutter Fairy, 16 years ago, so that is a one-to-one business.
6:22
So for many, many years I went into people's homes, and this is where I learned my craft really.
6:26
And so basically we go and we facilitate.
6:29
And so this is not about going into somebody's house and telling them to get rid of everything.

14 MINS LATER

20:06
I, it feels to me like something about being able to grieve might be healthy when we're moving towards change, so we might need to experience some loss
