What are your thoughts on how much kids should get, what they should get it for and whether it should be paid as physical cash or in a digital way?
11:54
I think in terms of how much, that's for every family to decide.
11:58
Like, I didn't get a lot of pocket money growing up because we were poor.
12:01
The tooth fairy used to visit.
12:02
I do remember that.
12:04
But, you know, I had a paper round form when I was 13, so that was my pocket money.
12:08
I do think there is a nice learning point around rewarding family.
14:25
it.
84:31
How much of this trend do you think is being driven by genuine financial pressures, and how much by changing attitudes towards money?
84:40
I think, again, you've got a mixture here.
84:42
I mean, there are genuine financial pressures on every household at the moment.
84:47
It's been the talk of the day now for what feels like at least three, four, five years.
84:54
Of the living crisis that's been extended for three years, to me, isn't really a crisis.
84:58
It's kind of bedded into the economy, as it were.
85:01
And we know that house prices is one that listeners will relate to.
88:25
okay right um What impact do you think are these gimmicks like buy now, pay later, these kind of services? What impact do they have on the way young people view spending and debt?
20:58
Tell us a bit more about what sort of financial knowledge is tested.
21:01
Yeah, good afternoon.
21:02
Thank you for having me.
21:04
Um, it's a general assessment that looks at real-world applications around financial knowledge and skills, and anybody can go online and do the two test questions that were in the twenty twenty-two PISA examination.
21:15
One of them is, Greg buys a bike which is advertised at six hundred.
21:19
He takes out a low-interest loan with the bike shop's in-store finance company.
21:24
Will Greg pay more, less, or the same as the list price? So what that's doing is, without telling you the interest of the loan, it's asking if you can spot that a low-interest loan means that you will end up paying more than the original list price.
22:27
Mm.
