Is there a tattoo in particular that stands out? I think we've got pictures or images of these tattoos.

Yeah.

Well, you know.

Yeah, I do.

Yeah, there's some.

Well, I don't know if maybe you can see right at my bottom of my neck.

What is it about being a part of a fantasy film, a magic? Is there something about those kinds of roles that you're drawn to?

Sally went a bit too far.

Magic becomes a metaphor for things that we all experience in life.

The connection you feel with your family, with your... with your kids, with your parents and stuff.

There's nothing more magical than that, really.

It's just like there's a naturalness to the transition.

The first movie, there was a lightness to it.

And this movie has a maturity to it.

That with maturity comes things like grief.

Professor Ian.

Um, no, he's an expert in magic, and the Owens sisters knock on his door and say, "Can you help us solve this mystery?" And they're legendary to him.

He knows good magic, he knows bad magic, and these incredibly powerful witches are saying, "Help us solve this, this mystery." And he, uh, he finds in Sally, you know, this power, but also this intriguing riddle to solve.

He's drawn to her.

There's like a magnetism.

So I got to spend some time with Sandy, and the character f- fell in love with her, and, yeah.

But as, as everyone knows, everyone in this room is born with power, and it's what do you think your familial curse is that you're hiding and at this stage in their life, do, who's, they're playing chicken, who's gonna open up?

And isn't love really the path to love? It's about, like, "I wanna know you.

[laughs] Well, I was also going to ask, like, do you have any rituals in your own life, like either around acting or other elements of your life?

I mean, as far as acting goes, every, every movie is different.

Every director is different.

Every character is different.

So I don't have a very rigid way of approaching it.

I went to, um, um, a drama school that kind of teaches you a lot of tools-

[laughs]

Because when you're, when it's just you and the audience, it's, um...

I'm sure you've played it numerous times, but describe it for, for those that might be listening.

Well, the, the number two, uh, there are the two biggest things.

Number one is it's built on sand, um, which all the quote, "Sand hills," of course, are built on sand.

There's, I think, 20-some million years ago, that area of North Carolina was underwater.

And so when the oceans receded, uh, it retained its sandy soil.

And so when, when Donald Ross came from Scotland to Boston in 2000 or, I'm sorry, 1900, um, to find his niche in the, in the golf world, and he met James Tufts, who had created Pinehurst five years earlier, uh, golf was not part of the landscape or part of the plan, original plan for Mr. Tufts, that golf evolved into being a, a part of this wintertime resort that he created in North Carolina.

And when Donald Ross came, he did not come as a golf architect.
