If I've forced you to try and describe the sort of characteristic of a Belgian art collector, what is the archetypal Belgian collector?

Well, that's a hard, hard question.

Last year we did this talk with Gerita Meers where she really put it so beautifully.

She's from this other generation working with artists like Donald Judd and has like a very strong reputation also internationally, but also here in Belgium with collectors and artists.

And she said something like Belgian collectors, they dare to buy the difficult things.

Of course, there's several kinds of collectors always in any country.

And I think nobody's really defined by their nationality.

What are some of the difficulties facing the art market in Brussels, in Belgium?
