So what made you take that leap?

So I've always been really interested in health.

Um, I think I've gone on my own health journey my whole life.

My mom was a little ahead of her, ahead of her time.

She was always, like, into it, so I think I grew up into the... a house, um, that had health as, like, the forefront.

Um, always really big into exercise and sports and nutrition.

Um, and my sister actually has celiac disease, so that ha- like, our whole family had gone on, like, this big bridge of education because she actually got diagnosed, I would say, maybe 25 years ago, when, like, celiac disease wasn't a thing.

Mm.

OK, so what

do I do? Well, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

as an almost 40 year old woman which I think I feel like everyone is kind of twirling their way through life I only had this discussion with someone a couple of days ago are we all just spoofing and bluffing our way through life I feel like the older I get and the more I learn about people that that is actually the case in a lot of instances I so with regard to like work stuff I quit a very bunny ears permanent job almost four years ago mid 2022 and from there I started working with an animal welfare organisation I was there for a little over a year as like an officer with them and then I kind of just took the leap into I guess self-employment but it's not conventional self-employment what is conventional self-employment what is conventional freelancing so I think now more than ever before it's quite obvious money is becoming, I don't want to say an issue for everyone, but it's becoming an issue for lots of people.

And I think diversification of streams of income for everyone, influencer, admin worker, nurse, guard, teacher, anyone, I think it's really important.

So the likes of side hustles, I know that has kind of become a very Americanized term, but I feel like I have a lot of side hustles.

Yeah.

So I'm both very unemployed, but very self-employed.

So a broader picture, maybe? Okay, so what do I do?

Well, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

I, so with regard to like work stuff, I quit a very bunny ears, permanent job almost four years ago, mid-2022.

And from there, I started working with an animal welfare organisation.

funny because like even when you said you know you go it is influencing we never say it is influencing like we never say it with pride because it has such negative connotations

Tell me why was that, why was it important to get like a kind of a traditional, at least in terms of the format, brunch? Why was Stowaway the spot?

I mean, it's the place I always tell people to go to if they're looking for a breakfast spot or a brunch spot here in Denver.

I just think the vibe that is there is so much fun.

And then the food is colorful and tasty, but also wholesome and pretty healthy, too.

But you can also get a little bit, if you have a sweet tooth, you can get some of those donuts that she has on the weekends, which are amazing.

But then also go in the opposite direction and get like a, you know, karaage.

sandwich which is indulgent and definitely has all of the you know the umami and the savory side

Yeah.

What made you think of coming this way, and how did you find this path?

Yeah.

Yeah, I, I do think we have a lot of similarities.

I remember in the jumpstart for those three days when you came in and talked about when you were in corporate, and you would go in every day, and it just like, you worked with great people, but it just didn't feel right.

And I remember crying in that session 'cause I was like, "This is, that's me." But I, I was in financial services for 20-plus years.

Great career.

I loved it.

We need, we want someone from Area Wear to be on the jury," and David Alhadef's on it as well.
