So what is going on now? Because I thought we weren't giving them a bunch of money.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
So we found out last week, it was all the headlines on the news that the State Bond Commission has started giving New Orleans more money.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
So we found out in September they had gotten... $20-something million, a lot of different projects in New Orleans.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
The State Bond Commission approved it, and then we found out in October that they went back to the State Bond Commission and got more money for sewerage and water board and for the sheriff's office.
Moon GriffonHOST
And I'm thinking, why in the world do they get any money? I don't understand why they get any money.

yeah it is hard to keep track of everything going on i can tell you that um just so everybody knows it's it's moving and it's not you know the attorney general isn't going to stop sort of getting to the bottom of this so there's every week there's been something moving um what you saw yesterday is a headline where both The Attorney General's attorney, that's us, we filed a motion with the Louisiana Supreme Court and so did the special prosecutor over the matter.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
And what's going on right now is she's refusing to turn over what we consider to be public records.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
And she wrote or filed a pleading with the Supreme Court and basically said that that she's overwhelmed, that she expected to have been retired at this point in her life.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
That she is the potential target of a criminal investigation because of her role in this indictment.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
And on top of that, that we are sending her public records requests and that this has all become basically too overwhelming for her.

Yeah, so this is the case of where the Attorney General Liz Merle was indicted in New Orleans, you know, indicted facing a $400,000 bond and 80 years in prison.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
And so that case, you know, just shortly after the indictment, about two weeks or so.

Laura RodrigueGUEST
The city council, the mayor, and the district attorney all ran over to court and said, look, we're ready for this case to be dismissed.

So how does that work? I mean, I don't blame y'all, but not only frustration that this grand jury ever did what it did, but the frustration of now to find out exactly what went down.
