Laura.
42:21
So I spoke a little bit about our unhealth system and something that's also happening if you're paying attention to the health market is there's consolidation.
42:32
So the same people are buying up more hospitals.
42:35
Private equity is behind it.
42:36
They're gutting hospitals.
42:38
They're leaving rural communities without facilities, and we're seeing just a devastation, and it will become a national crisis if it isn't already, which I think there's argument that it is.
42:49
So I would love to see a government-funded program that starts thinking about ways to be in the community and of the community to provide healthcare.

Laura.
43:49
I totally believe that's the case.
43:52
Well, and if you think about it, in 2026, as opposed to like 20 years ago, our attention is pulled in so many different directions at all times.
44:05
And we're instantly available to anyone via a cell phone.
44:11
We are more tightly scheduled than ever.
44:14
Children have more activities that they're doing than ever.
44:18
There are just so many demands on our time.
44:22
And not to say that there weren't always demands on our time, but just the way that folks' attention is split and fractured.

50:39
How do you prevent that? Is it simply just locking your car?
5:41
70% roughly of the population, according to independent polls, would be supportive of this kind of thing.
5:48
Here at Fighting for a Free Future, we are proud to be associated with Glintpay.

It's an app which enables you to own real physical gold, owned by you, secured in a vault in Switzerland, audited and belonging to you.
6:03
And crucially, for those of us of ordinary means, it's gold that you can spend if you need to just about everywhere that Mastercard is accepted.

I think, Steve, it's, you know, we're coming up to summer recess, the house rises next week.
5:43
We've got Andy Burnham will be coming in on July 20th.
5:47
He obviously wants to own the narrative during the summer, you know, with his new cabinet digging in, probably going for a little regional tour across the UK.
5:56
So for Nigel Farage and Reform, this is a chance to kind of, you know, don't like how the table is set, so turn the table and grab the reins of the news agenda over the summer and dominate it and exhaust all the British media as well while we're at it, bugger up their summers and their holidays.
6:15
But I think it is, you know, setting up that battle, isn't it, between the establishment versus populism and trying to control that narrative and actually just trying to show... what the public feeling is and I think constituents in Clacton actually there is the risk that they may not vote at all actually they're fed up with all this the media circus that's going to camp down there over the summer everyone knocking the doors canvassing and what not and they might actually say hey we're not signing up for this we just want a local MP who will stick up for us in Parliament and help our area so it is a real big risk and I wonder in some ways if perhaps Raj and his team have overplayed their hands here
10:08
Isn't that also what's happening?
10:10
Yeah, I think I think so.

Laura.
70:58
Congress is not up to the task of regulating AI because of AI money in Congress.
71:05
AI money is also in this race.
71:08
Alex has set himself up as a champion, but the truth is he's voted against state laws for consumer protection related to AI four times.
71:17
The Loading Act is but one example where he joined an executive from IBM and someone with Russian ties to oppose regulations that would require human beings to oversee the use of AI.
71:30
There's three other bills: 8773, 83779, and 84550 for those at home who are gonna do their research.
71:39
These raise serious questions.

Laura, you get the last word.
2:55
And at that point, he'll fail.
2:59
I think he's also going to struggle on the party management side because he doesn't have much experience of that.
3:04
And he doesn't know all these new MPs from the election two years ago.
3:09
So he's got to work his way around them.
3:11
So people like Lucy Powell, if she's given a souped up role, and also Jessica Morden, who's chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party, are going to be really key to helping him succeed.
3:20
And of course, the latter was PPSO, Parliamentary Pro-Secretary to Keir Starmer when he was in opposition and sort of in the early days.
3:28
So, you know, there's just there's a lot of like moving parts here and a lot of unknowns.
7:02
But what else could be done with Ed Miliband, Laura?
39:34
That's true.
39:35
I'm not afraid to take a stand.
39:36
I don't even care the consequence of taking a stand- Mm-hmm ... because I've thought deeply about it, researched it- Mm-hmm ... and I know what I stand for, and I will pay the price for that.
39:43
Mm-hmm.
39:44
And you know, I saw Jack Schlosberg kind of w- w- wiggle, waggle on, uh, you know, Israel-Palestine- Mm-hmm ... and try to be progressive, but also pro-Israel, and he just flip-flopped and made everyone mad, and he dropped 10 points.
39:55
Yeah.
41:08
Yeah.
41:08
We have crypto in there.
51:16
So what's been your strategy to stand out in this crowded field?
51:20
Well, thanks so much for having me on.
51:22
Uh, the men are getting a lot of attention, but I'm someone who has the most federal policy and legislative experience of any candidate.
51:29
So that's what I've been telling voters on the ground, that I helped draft and pass the 2013 Violence Against Women Act.
51:35
I did that as a victim advocate.
51:37
I actually went office to office in the capital, Democrat and Republicans alike, and advocated for two years in law school to pass that legislation.
51:46
I then worked on the Rulemaking Committee, advised White House task forces, even clerked on the Senate Judiciary, and did some policy work for both Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton's campaign.
52:46
Laura, what do you make of his answer?
2:12
MPs go, what do you think about his resignation? Isn't he actually one of the most credible people to land this message that the government's not spending enough?
2:21
Yeah, I think he I saw a tweet saying, you know, he's been sort of active for 25 years.
2:25
So when you've got someone who's towed the party line for that long and he's put country before party.
2:33
I think that says a lot.
2:34
I think it shows what a pickle the Treasury are in, but the stronghold that they have in the wrong ways and how Rachel Reeves is just not, you know, credible in what's coming up.
2:47
And I think realising the scale of the threat that we're facing as a country.
2:52
And it is, I think, going to come down, you know, to two totemic issues now, isn't it? Whether you put more funding into defence or you're putting it into welfare.

11 MINS LATER

13:47
And there's not necessarily me saying there needs to be extensive security measures, But I think this speaks to an overall security problem in the UK, both on the domestic and the international fronts.
5:29
For folks who don't know who you are and why you're running, give them a brief breakdown.
5:34
Absolutely.
5:34
Well, first, thanks for having me on.
5:36
I know you have so many amazing guests that have been part of the show and congratulations on such an amazing following.
5:42
It's great to see new media really carve out a space.
5:46
So I'm a candidate running in NY 12.
5:48
That's Manhattan.

7 MINS LATER

12:29
What are you going to do to lower costs for folks living in the district?
5:16
But what does it mean? What do you make of it, Laura? What does it mean for the future of the Labour Party?
5:20
Uh, I think it shows it's, you know, the psychodrama continues.
5:24
Uh, but I think, uh, Tony Blair's right to say that, you know, we're still stuck at doing politics as if the old world exists, and it doesn't.
5:32
You know, the geopolitical order has shifted, and it's right to admit that the state is too slow, and I think it's on all parties to admit that as well.
5:41
I was at a roundtable this morning talking about AI and, you know, how to make the state function better, and we're still having the same kind of discussions that I was having 10 years ago when I first started doing work in this space.
5:54
And it, it's just...
5:56
I think someone needs to accept that there's a risk with anything, but you've just got to go for it, otherwise we are gonna be-Lag behind other countries.
11:00
How do you think the party is failing its own voters?
11:04
Oh, in numerous ways.
11:05
Uh, the primary way is, of course, taking money that compromises them.
11:09
So AIPAC money is largely influencing the Democratic Party at a time when most Americans are exhausted by the idea of billions of dollars going to war in the Middle East rather than healthcare, rather than affordable housing.
11:23
And everything is becoming unaffordable, and yet we're seeing so much aid go to a country that has been a longstanding ally but is actively engaging in war crimes and genocidal acts.
11:35
So I've called for an end to aid to Israel, which distinguishes me significantly from both Jack and George, my opponents, who are standing by Israel at this time.
11:46
In fact, George Conway has called for unconditional aid to Israel Writing them a blank check with American money, no matter what they want to do with it, and I think that's wrong.

it just feels very incongruent, um, knowing that his, his brother refused to testify, um, in the ca- the civil suit filed by Virginia Giuffre, and that it-- they instead settled and that he's now being charged with public corruption.
