How is that different? How do you make that jump? And what have you seen as the good you can take from the military and lend to this type of leadership and things you had to really change?

Well, Mandy put a softball in the tea for me to hit there.

I could talk for 20 minutes about this.

So I'll try to condense it a little bit for you.

So the military is a fabulous leadership laboratory and really kind of starts with being a fighter pilot.

You're in charge of your... jets but every day you get effective communication through your debriefs you get a chance to execute and then you come back and you spend a lot of time in a fire what we call a fighter pilot debrief which is you got 99% of the flight right but that 1% we're going to go over with a fine-tuned comb and and really investigate what the causal factors, the root cause, so we can get a valid lesson learned, so that we cannot repeat that mistake over and over again.

And through that decade of flying fighters, you really learn how to communicate effectively, how to get to the point, how to sift through the chaff to get the real nuggets of wheat that you need.
