Do you ever think about how things would've been different if you hadn't gone to Wisconsin and hadn't won four titles as a Badger?
L

That's one of those things that's like, does everything happen for a reason? 'Cause yeah, I was originally committed to Princeton, and then the Ivy Leagues ended up canceling their season, so I really wanted to play that year.
L
21:18Lacey EdenGUEST
They gave eligibility back to all athletes who were competing that year, so I saw that as a opportunity to compete at a high level and still regain that eligibility, like just extra games, extra competition, and that was something that I immediately jumped on and wanted to do.
L
21:35Lacey EdenGUEST
I got on the phone right away, and, um, made that decision, and you know, I, I didn't really know what to expect going into Wisconsin that year.
L

But as soon as I got on campus, as soon as I started competing with those girls, playing with those girls, I knew that I had made a great choice, and, um, there was really no looking back from there.

How did you handle not making that final cut, and what is your goal going forward? I imagine you're now even more dead set upon making the next roster and having a hand in the next attempt at a gold medal.

Um, how was the college recruiting process for you? Like, what schools were in the mix?
L
34:40Lacey EdenGUEST
So my first two years of high school I went to a school in Maryland called Archbishop Spalding, and I played boys hockey for the Washington Little Caps during those two years of high school.
L
34:53Lacey EdenGUEST
And from there it kind of got to the point where I was like, all right, I could stick around here, maybe play for pride, or go somewhere else and see what happens.
L
35:02Lacey EdenGUEST
So I ended up going to Shattuck-Saint Mary's for my junior and senior year, and got a lot of, um, looks from there.
L
35:10Lacey EdenGUEST
I mean, obviously Shattuck's a highly sought-after school and a lot of really good players come through there, so, uh, there's definitely a lot of eyes on that program.
L
35:20Lacey EdenGUEST
And there were multiple schools that I was looking at, and, um, ended up at Wisconsin through a kind of curved road, but nonetheless [laughs] ended up at Wisconsin.

So how do you balance playing fast while staying composed enough to make skilled plays and good decisions?
