I think religious extremists are terrifying, aren't they? People who really, really know.

They don't just believe.

They know how the world is and what God thinks about it.

I grew up in an agnostic household, agnostic in a very Christian way, and I sort of developed... moved into paganism myself and now these times I would say I'm agnostic but in a pagan kind of way so the idea of not questioning the idea of being absolutely certain is really foreign to me I don't I don't understand those people at all and so I was researching cults generally sort of You know, all of them, Jamestown and Waco and Synanon.

And I took elements from some of some of them.

There's also a religious leader in the part of London that I set the book in who inspired me quite a lot called Father Jay.
