... thrash.

I, I think, um, a lot of that is testimony to how, uh, how many years of training I've had.
4:21
Uh, I do have a powerful voice, so I project really well, and I, I'm, um, from a family of English majors, so, uh, the, you know, grammar, all that sort of thing is, is really important in my household.
4:34
So, um, but I think maybe in the old days it was harder to hear a lot of that stuff just simply 'cause of the production not being, uh, a high dollar, high end equipment.
4:50
So the, the better the production, the better clarity there's gonna be.
4:56
So I, I think that helps also.
4:58
You, it's, it, it was worth it for us to spend a little extra to have somebody like Jens Bogren mix our last two records and, and it, it paid dividends, 'cause you can hear everything crystal clear, and I love that.

Like, so being that you were on the scene for so long, like when did you feel like that that started to kind of prevail a little bit as far as influencing the sound of up-and-coming bands?
3:50
I'd have to say the most true and primary catalyst for that New Orleans sound, you've got to go back to the earliest...
4:05
Really, it starts with jazz from the early 1900s.
4:09
It really does.
4:10
But when rock and roll was in its infancy some of the earliest rock and roll bands and it's been argued that rock and roll was born in new orleans but you know you know you're always gonna there's arguments who cares all i know is in the very beginning you know the fats domino uh lloyd price uh all the you know ernie k doe Irma Thomas back in the day, Alan Tucson, they all made this music that it had a swing to it.
4:51
That was probably from the jazz, uh, era.
4:56
And so rock and roll was born of that and rhythm and blues and New Orleans, I think just had a distinctly different sound, um, that, that a lot of places that just don't have the culture that we have down here.

If I don't, if I don't see a certain like turnaround, or is this just like, you don't care if you're playing, you know, you know, clubs in West Virginia until you just can't.
11:56
looking to, you know,
12:01
build a career and reach larger audiences, I think streamlining sometimes helps with songwriting.
12:08
So I've learned a lot over the years.
12:11
Now, granted, I don't want to turn Xorder into like a pop writing cycle.
12:16
I think, well, it's too late for that anyway, because I don't look the part.
12:21
But at the same time, that's not Xorder.
12:24
So each band has their own need and process.
