15:01
Mm-hmm.
15:01
And, and, you know, we have a foundation, um, that helps people with disabilities, um, achieve their possible and, and, and to improve the lives of, of people with disabilities through sport and beyond.
15:21
And because my brother is Jewish, um, the foundation has no re- religious affiliation to it.
15:31
Um, but you cannot deny what God is doing.
15:36
God's blueprint, his, his art is all over the foundation, and it's truly amazing.
15:47
And, and because, um, because Ironman slogan is, anything is possible, um, it is.
15:59
Like, anything is truly possible.

25:01
And I'm just curious how this passion, uh, rose up in you and how you're seeing God use it.
24:59
How does it feel to have a family member, like a brother, that is there with you during all of this? It's going to be a lot.
25:09
yeah i think it's great i think uh i think um that we have a great time doing it and of course we are brothers so we're gonna you know have a i don't think we're gonna have a down but i think that um that that's one thing that we never take for granted is we get to do this together and through the through the tickets in a race or whatever we'll keep going there we have each other back
30:21
Has there ever been a moment where you all were isolated for any reason from each other?
30:27
During COVID? Yeah, I was there during COVID.
30:30
Yeah.
30:31
I mean, I didn't see Brett for maybe six months.
30:35
Every time we did see each other, we had to keep our distance and all that.
30:41
So once COVID went up and we were able to hang out, we were on the run.
16:05
What are some of those lessons that you've learned doing Ironmans and doing races and then bringing them back kind of into the business?
16:15
Yeah, I think that's a great question for me.
16:20
I'm getting more prepared.
16:23
I know how to study a race course.
16:27
I know, you know, we've done Connor twice now.
16:32
Every time we go there, I always ride the bike course to get really familiar with it and find out, you know, where the tires are and all that.
16:43
So I think to be it, Dewey Ironman was great and made me a better person and much more prepared to be better equipped to be a leader and to help my team, the inclusive team, to better their focus and help them to become more professional.

35 MINS LATER

52:09
So Kyle, what was the lesson like for you?
45:43
And that's a, that's a really, that's a big burden for those running NPOs, uh, as they interface with donors and volunteers.
45:51
You know, Britt may agree or disagree with this next thing that I'm gonna say, but for me, when I meet with somebody, I really want them to come out to an event first and see what we do.
46:06
And then from there, you can cultivate that conversation and, and money and get the big gifts.
46:14
I mean, half my time is on MARTA, which is our transportation, our public transportation, and I talk about KDL all the time.
46:27
And I raise small gifts that could turn into big gifts over time.
46:33
So I really want you to come out to an event specifically to see what we do and then be inspired.
46:41
Be inspired by what you see.

7 MINS LATER

54:03
And that's a, that's a really, that's a big burden for those running NPOs, uh, as they interface with donors and volunteers.
32:03
You know, it's something that we can all fiercely experience.
32:06
I think one of my favorite memories of the Hoyts was we did a, a road race in, um, out there by where they lived, and we went to the expo, and Dick was there, and Brett had to step away from, for a phone call, and I started talking to, to Dick about Kona, and all of a sudden, he had tears in his eyes.
32:38
And I was like, "Oh, boy, here we go.
32:40
Here another person goes feeling sorry for me." But what Brett illustrated to me after we left was that Rick was non-verbal, so he couldn't tell Dick how he was feeling during the race and all that.
33:01
So to hear it from me, somebody similar to Rick, just took him aback and really made him emotional, and it was one of those moments that I will never forget, uh, for the rest of my life.

15 MINS LATER

48:16
Share with the audience what the book is all about and what they can take away from it.
48:20
It's a book about the journey to our first Ironman World Championship in Kona, um, and it builds up to that point of all of the racing that we may see today about New York and aboutI'm in Wisconsin and, and everything in between.
48:41
And, uh, what's really cool about it is everybody in our family has a chapter in the book.
29:53
So in regards to resiliency, in regards to y- you guys as a duo, Kyle, like, what are some of the triggers that you see happen in Brent before he may see them, and then, and how do you kinda coach through those?
30:14
The bike is the major indicator for me.
30:17
We're pretty close to each other, so for the most part he can hear me pretty well, where- whereas when he's in the water, he can't hear me that well.
30:30
So I can-We've been doing this for 15 years now, and I know that when bikes start to slow down or when there's a moment of, of discouragement or I could hear Brett, my boy going through his breath, um, that's when I just imagine doing this with him and putting my hand behind his back and, and focusing on just one revolution at a time.
31:05
And just, how can I be the best brother I could be during this time? How can I show up for Brett? It might be with phrases, it might be with, "I love you, I'm grateful for you," or it might be, "Hey, man, like, we gotta get going.
31:26
We gotta move, and we're gonna move together."

8 MINS LATER

39:21
But if there was one thing or two things that you had to overcome to get to that place, what would they have been?
39:30
Really the power of positivity really helped me to overcome.
