So what was that, that you were kind of seeing in regards to predators? What types of predators, and what do you think is a, is a, is, is a realistic solution for people?

Kyle HedgesGUEST
Um, adult mortality, our leading cause is avian predators, right? I mean, it was spot on during the hawk migrations in March.

Kyle HedgesGUEST
We would lose adult bird, radio collared birds, and then again in the fall at October-ish timeframe when they were coming back through.

Yeah, that's one of the things that, that we, I guess I failed to mention in sufficiently that I think we want to is, you know, we, we talk about these native grasses and, and, and forbs and trying to get them established on the landscape, and that's really critical.

Kyle HedgesGUEST
Um, but to, to really have a, a maximized quail population, you've got to have some, some forb- some woody cover component, some, some brushy, shrubby component that's, you know, 10 to, to 20% of the landscape.

Kyle HedgesGUEST
And we usually a lot of times don't worry about that because we're fighting brush and shrub takeover, um, so much as a part of, as a part of what we're doing with our management that-

Well, if, uh, if, if listeners were gonna take away one thing, whether they, whether they are a landowner, they know a landowner, um, what would you, what would you want them to take away or at least know about? And, uh, if, if they have questions and wanna get in contact with you, how could, how could they do that, Kyle?

Kyle HedgesGUEST
The takeaway for me would be not just quail-wise, any game bird, we've reached a point, it's, it's not accidental for most of this.

Kyle HedgesGUEST
So if, if you care about it and you really wanna make a difference, and it's, whether it's your own land, it's someplace you hunt...
