Do you get very involved in Māori Language Week?

Yes, I do.

Every year I get invited to actually open the start of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.

But because I was already committed on Monday to another kaupapa up in Hamilton, I had someone else open it and begin it at Parliament.

But Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori is part of a month known as Mahuru Māori.

And Mā Huru Māori is for those that are on their journey learning te reo, on their journey of te reo Māori, where we dedicate a whole month just dedicated to trying to speak te reo Māori within every setting that you're in.

whether it might be at home, at work, at a cafe, just trying to find those locations where Māori speakers are and how you can express yourself in te reo Māori.

So it's really what we've just been talking about, isn't it? Language revitalisation won't happen, regardless of people's background, if they don't learn, practise and try to use te rao in everyday daily life.
