Before we hear about your experience of once you've gone on the show, let's go to Kristy Garza, and tell me a little bit of how you decided to go on it.
31:37
I was get- I was getting ready to complete my contract, uh, active duty contract, in the United States Army.
31:43
And, um, so I was looking for, you know, a path.
31:46
What am I gonna do? I was watching the TV one morning, and it was KTLA, and they advertised for a life makeover.
31:53
And I was like, "Ooh, a life makeover." And then, of course, they mentioned the, the life coach and the career coach and, you know, um, the fitness trainer, and plastic surgery.
32:05
Because unlike Carrie, I had one child, and my poor titties just didn't make it.
32:11
And, um, yes, I was 22 years old and looked like I had cow teats, like I could be milked to feed a village.

19 MINS LATER

51:46
What about you, Christie?
58:39
Did that, um, blow you away? Did it start to produce an anger within you? And then how many years go by where you're able to drop some of those feelings, or did this documentary help you do that?
58:53
I tell people that I, I've done the most healing I've done in the past 22 years throughout the process of this documentary.
58:59
From the moment I sat in Erin's chair and she looked me straight in my eye and she said, "This is for you," and something overcame me.
59:07
And you know, I, I went off the rails after The Swan.
59:11
After being told twice that I was not good enough for a fly-by-night backwoods beauty pageant after having a $250,000 makeover, I had zero self-esteem.
59:21
My mental health was trashed, and so I turned to drugs and alcohol.
59:27
You know, I had some sketchy employment choices, you know, where I was making it clap for a couple dollars because I was obsessed with this external validation because I was not chosen.

7 MINS LATER

66:28
Um, did you ever try to leave, or did you communicate with other women in that first season that tried to leave, or what were those backroom conversations that you were having with each other?
26:20
Yeah
26:20
...
26:21
in my skills, in my intelligence, but I always had a problem with the way that I looked, and I wanted to understand why.
26:26
You know, is it for my, you know, deflated mammaries after having one child? Is it because my teeth are a little crooked and discolored? Which all teeth are different colors.
26:35
Um, I, I wanted to fix the things that I felt like were holding me back.
26:39
And I also, because of the way the show was sold to me, I thought it would be great to set me on a new path, you know, and have some direction.
26:47
I, I was absolutely devastated, um, to know after not only having not been chosen when I was pitted against one of my Swan Sisters the first time.
27:17
Hmm.
