Yeah, it's funny because I think she felt this pressure, like initially, like she probably wants me to go to school.
37:55
And I was like, and everything was making it hard for her to get because we had moved to New York and then they wanted to charge her out-of-state tuition.
38:03
I'm like, she's never left the state of North Carolina except for vacation just because we moved and everything was so hard.
38:09
And I was like, why me? don't don't put all this pressure on yourself if it's not what you want to do go do what you want to do and she's actually it's all her fault in fact that's the name of my youtube channel is she's the reason i have a laser that's my my little handle um and it's because we both saw this ad online and she was like hey i saw this this laser and i was like girl me too i was like we should do that and it was like the x tool the little m1 and so we waited until they showed up and like i played with mine a few times and she broke three of them i think because she used it so much and yeah like she was all in it and so i was still doing digital who knew that riley started all of this she really did.

This episode is titled Cracking the Heritability Code.
0:46
Hi, I'm Kristen Thompson with the Beef Cattle Research Council.
0:50
Improving the genetics of your beef herd starts with knowing which traits you can improve through genetics and which traits respond better to management practices.
0:58
Because cattle have a long generational interval, every bull or replacement heifer that you choose will affect your herd for years to come.
1:06
That's why understanding heritability and how traits interact with each other helps ensure your breeding decisions are moving your herd towards your production goals.
1:15
But what does heritability really mean? Heritability tells us how much of a trait is controlled by genetics versus the environment and or management, and it's expressed as a number between 0 and 1.
1:29
Highly heritable traits are traits that are strongly influenced by genetics, meaning that you can make changes more quickly by selecting the right replacements or bolts.
