Was there a moment when you realized that your OT skills could be applied outside of direct clinical practice?
14:26
Yeah, that's a good question because I did not intentionally, I didn't think I was going to continue using my OT skills.
14:33
When I was supposedly leaving the profession to go work in a different arena, my plan was to just find something else.
14:43
And it was only after I was working and I was working with clients and I was subconsciously assessing them to see kind of, okay, what is their learning style? What do they need from me? Like, what are their actual goals versus what they're saying? And how can we remove barriers? in their marketing and as they're running their business.

And I was like, oh, I am still using my whole OT skill set.
15:06
I'm just applying it to marketing instead of clinical care, like Sarah was saying, in hospitals or home health care or whatnot.
15:14
And so I didn't realize that I was going to be using it, but I'm grateful that I was able to continue to call myself an occupational therapist and continue to claim that title.

How can practitioners begin exploring innovative roles without feeling like they're abandoning O.T.? ?
