... um, it's more about, like, you know, these young kids that...

I went down Brighton Grammar the other week.

They train so hard.

They've got that.

They've got this hunger to be AFL footballers, but I think that identity part of trying to separate that and not being bulletproof and working more on ourselves as good young people who've got really good character and values, I, I love that aspect of it, and trying to give skills to them to regulate their fears and, you know, especially we'll talk a bit about concussion and not in a way from a medical standpoint, but just if you're feeling these things, it's, you gotta speak up.

Oh, that was a tough watch

... yeah, after some long chats over the last few weeks, um, I'm hanging up the boots.

Um, [sighs] it's been a pretty tough period the last probably three or four months.

Um, probably lonely at times as well.

Um, [smacks lips] you know, probably, you know, I found it pretty hard to come in and, you know, I felt embarrassed at times and, you know, I can't physically show you boys what's been going on, but [clears throat] you know, obviously been going through a pretty rough trot and [sniffs] I was sitting talking with one of me mates the other day, and I wasn't gonna sit in on that meeting, but I was glad I did.

And, you know, we were talking about footy and life and, um, you know, I, I was telling him when I first got drafted, all I wanted to do was, you know, have a, [clears throat] have the perfect AFL career.

I wanted, you know, 300 games, you know, like all of us do.
