Can you talk us through some of the simple assessment tools that we can be using for concussions these days in our day-to-day practice?
9:43
Yeah, so my talk here at RDAQ was basically a 15-minute snapshot to the GPs.
9:51
And this is the rural GP who works in a GP practice or might actually even work in the emergency department as well.
9:58
And whilst I come at it from my sporting background, we see concussions in all facets, so be it a workplace injury or a motor vehicle accident.
10:06
So It's just using the sports principles because that's where the research has been to twist it around to help any clinician now maybe diagnose, recognise, treat these traumatic brain injuries where we haven't had a structure before.
10:24
So in the sporting world, we use a system called the SCAT-6, which is the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool.
10:33
It's available online, free to download.

14 MINS LATER

24:40
Kira, do you think there's anything else we need to share with our listeners about concussion before we finish up today?
13:14
What is it?
13:15
Yeah.
13:16
So cheese is a fermented food.
13:18
So you start with milk, and you add only three ingredients to the milk to create cheese.
13:24
Each of those ingredients has a very specific role that they play.
13:27
Cultures, rennet, and salt.
13:29
They're added at different points in the process to the milk, and then through the power of science, the milk is turned into solids and liquid.

13 MINS LATER

Is it the cultures? Is it the amount of time they're sitting in a rind on a shelf? Can you break down how many we should know about so that when we go to our cheesemonger we're not, like, lost?
