So how do you manage when you know there's a good way that you believe in and how do you deal with the people that don't agree with that?

Such a great question.

A couple different ways.

One, I lean into the literature research, and I think there is something to be said about relying on the field to give you the assurance and credibility to continue with your strategies.

Two, I think I lean into understanding where these sort of opinions are coming from.

And I think the biggest challenge that today's school leaders or educators are having is that a lot of people, especially parents or leaders, create this narrative in their head based on their own school experience.

And I have to do a lot of communication and explaining that today's school is not the school of your day.

wasn't working.

When was the last time that you signed up for a demo? And what made you do that? It might be you talked to your PLN or whatnot, but what actually made you research a company and say, yes, I want to learn more?

That's a great question.

So here's what happened.

I have a school initiative.

We have a goal to improve attendance, right? So we started with our student information system and attendance tracking.

And then that's when I called my professional network and said, hey, who's got a good tool? And then one of my previous colleagues told me about this one tool.

And I'm not going to say the name, but anyway.

But so what? To what end? At what cost? Right?

Yes, I think the assessment that we have developed with all good intention focuses mostly on knowing how much students know the content, and it's not as good at assessing how do they use the content to create something, and I think AI can definitely offer that opportunity.

That's why a lot of AI enthusiasts talk about personalized learning and differentiated learning as the benefit potentially of AI.

And to me, student creation is where it's at, right? If we're going to transform education, how do we put the tools in their hands so that they can actually create something to solve big problems? And traditional school system is not well-designed for that.

And knowing that and being able to facilitate that is where good pedagogy comes into play.

And honestly, when you walk into a classroom with high level of collaboration, the teacher in the room is always coaching, always looking, right? And it is not as easy as people think.
