But, but, uh, wh- where do you see the, the, the diversion, the d- divergence of Vance from the mainstream of the party which is now a pretty Trumpian party? I mean, the ma- mainstream of the party is not what it used to be, but you feel he's diverging, I've, even from that.
7:59
Yeah, I do.
8:00
And so here's the th- here, here's my philosophy of what happened which is that when Donald Trump ran the first time he had I think w- what were some more populist planks, uh, which also have many places where the base was really unhappy with the party leadership and in particular on immigration and trade, right? I would call those more populist.
8:19
If you look at the rest of the Trump first term agenda, totally Reagan free market, you know, deregulations, big pro-growth tax cut, fantastic picks for the federal judiciary, you know, rule of law, all of that stuff and that's why you got that incredible economy.
8:37
I think when he was out of office those four years there was a whole bunch of Republicans that got together, they're like, "Okay, so we just need to double down on just getting the blue collar working class vote.
8:47
What do we need to say to get even more of those guys? That's gonna be our new governing coalition." And they decided to be even more populist in more areas which i- in areas I don't necessarily think Donald Trump is there, right? Like JD Vance has been skeptical of like right to work states, um, you know, because we gotta do even more working with big labor and the unions.
9:08
He was out there lately saying that he thought Milton Friedman was just this-
13:45
Uh, what, what do you think about this? What's your, what's your feeling about the filibuster?
6:08
Your thoughts about how we got here.
6:09
here.Hi, Brian.
6:13
Uh, great weekend to you.
6:14
Look, yeah, a lot of what you said, I completely agree with.
6:18
I mean, this was not a surrender the way Democrats are saying it.
6:21
We have made incredible progress.
6:23
And I also understand the argument among some Republicans that they wanted to pause in this to get through the midterms.
9:21
Why do you think this is?
18:04
(laughs).
18:04
(laughs) Because it's, it's, you, everything you just said is absolutely correct.
18:09
We should be embarrassed.
18:11
I mean, we love as Americans to thump our chest and talk about how we are the bettest- best nation in the world, and I think that that is true in so many regards, especially with regard to freedom and entrepreneurialism.
18:23
We are pathetic when it comes to our education.
18:26
So many nations take this so much more seriously than we do.
18:30
And I think the problem is that we've got a lot of rewinding and changing we need to do.

How do- what are you looking at now that we might not have on our radar?
