Mm-hmm
14:16
... there's a report, I don't know if you're familiar, it's a nonprofit group called Elevate where they look at statistics of Asian Americans and specifically East Asian Americans, s- which includes Vietnamese.
14:27
And so if you look at those statistics, we hold about 1.2% of, say, executive boards or C-level roles.
14:36
So it's a really small percentage, um, within the, the overall Asian community.
14:42
Getting roles at those levels is something that Asians, and a lot of other underrepresented groups as well, um, struggle with understanding how do they continue to show their leadership so that they can continue to aspire for these roles.
14:59
What I've learned through the years is that leadership requires you to have a voice.
15:04
It requires you to have the courage to do things that maybe take you out of your comfort zone sometimes, um, to be represented at the table when you're invited to come and participate in a meeting or in some kind of discussion.

And if you think back of all the different mentors and all the people that have helped you and the leaders that gave you advice, what was the best piece of leadership advice that anyone has ever given you?
9:59
It's still, it's still very much in our DNA.
10:02
Absolutely.
10:03
And you know, the sheer fact that Vietnam as a nation, we are a smaller nation compared to the political superpowers of the world.
10:13
Um, and even myself, you know, even though I specialize in literature since I was in Vietnam, uh, I, what I specialize in, I've always been, uh, international literature.
10:25
Um, even my thesis at university was on Kafka.
10:28
Um, so I was in UCL, my university, and I realized that, you know, it's a big university.
10:35
It claims to be one of the biggest univ- and most forward-thinking university in, in the world, and yet there was only one person in charge of teaching an entire cohort on East- Eastern literature.
