Was there a sense that workers in their unions or outside of their unions were organized? Was what was happening around there?
9:23
Well, I think, I mean, just to be blunt about it, traditionally, I think unions are way too conservative, way too chicken shit, way too unwilling to, you know, do real solidarity amongst groups of workers who are under attack and way too concerned about following the law at all costs.
9:43
And I think there's been some breaks with that.
9:46
I don't want to act like they're total breaks or that, you know, some of those same constraints aren't still in place because they are, for instance, there's way too much, in my opinion, way too much focus on the elections as the main political avenue of change.
10:03
And the unions pour a tremendous amount of money and resources into participating in the elections.
10:09
But there's also been this current within the labor movement, a couple of currents I want to tell you about.
10:16
The first one is kind of one from some of the more activist minded trade unions who have been thinking about how to combine the strength of the unions.

But what else has been happening in the city and amongst the unions and so on?
