How did you know you were there? And then why was it the hardest?
Kia LeeGUEST
7:03
You never really know where you are, right? And in treatment, you have certain milestones, right? You ring the bell at the end of chemo.
Kia LeeGUEST
7:11
You ring the bell at the end of radiation.
Kia LeeGUEST
7:14
You know, you're celebrating, you know, your surgery in your home.
Kia LeeGUEST
7:18
And I really felt like those were moments really for everyone else.
Kia LeeGUEST
7:24
Because, yeah, I got to ring the bell in chemo and I was so grateful to be done chemo.
Kia LeeGUEST
7:29
But it's not like chemo's over and then all the side effects go away.

What would you tell them? What advice would you give them?
11:08
What would be like the basic skill set that one would need in healing as compared to like when you are in treatment?
Kia LeeGUEST
11:17
Yeah.
Kia LeeGUEST
11:18
So yeah, when you're in treatment, you're just fully present doing what is being asked of you, sleeping, healing, getting your nutrients to keep your body strong.
Kia LeeGUEST
11:28
Afterwards, it's a lot because you have to process what you just lived through, right? Because when you're diagnosed...
Kia LeeGUEST
11:38
Everything goes out the window, and it's what do I need to do to get more time, right? You can't buy more time.
Kia LeeGUEST
11:46
What do I need to do to get more time? So you're not focused on how do I feel after hearing the doctor tell me that? How do I feel about being in chemo? How do I feel about my breast being amputated? How do I feel about my scars? How do I feel about the medication and the side effects? And how do I feel that I may never have the body that I had ever again because of all the hormones and things that are changing.
Kia LeeGUEST
12:11
You're focused on pure survival.
