And especially, what's the role of public leader in creating that sort of, you know, communal, that, that culture that actually cares about each other?
13:38
Yeah, and it's honestly, I think in some ways the issue that worries me the most, and not just re- related to homelessness but, but more broadly, is that, you know, we can and should spend a lot of time talking about the people in our city who are unwell, but our neighborhoods are really unwell right now as well, right? There is this huge level of acrimony, a huge level of, "Well, like, that's not my problem.
13:58
I just want it to go away." Um, that worries me because really the only ways we're gonna be able to tackle these big issues is, is together, right? Um, I think that the first and foremost and most important thing is that we need people to meet each other, right? And going back to the 519 for a second, that's a great example of, of how that can work in practice, right? Where, you know, have a beautiful ballroom where people are renting it out for events or conferences, and at the same time, there's a drop-in going on on the first floor, right? Those opportunities for us to mingle and actually be seen and humanize each other are, are central to that, right? Um, I think that the, the other pieces of it is, you know, people are motivated by their self-interests very often.
14:40
That is the reality, and I'm not expecting everybody to have a deep well of compassion.
14:45
I understand people's frustrations.
14:47
I'm relieved that at the doors we knock on, uh, even people who are very frustrated understand that the only way, uh, for us to make, um, our, our city better and more livable for everybody is to make the investments we need, uh, in support and housing and supportive housing, uh, especially.
15:03
But if you don't want to deal with those issues, then the only way we're gonna solve those issues is by making those investments, right? So there can be a bit of a, uh, an understanding that, like, this isn't just to help support an individual.

Do you feel like there's been a, a noticeable decline in the ability for young people or any people to enjoy and go out in Toronto in the past decade, let's say?
