What's the score there with, do you have to get permission? Do you just film it? What's the score there? Yeah,
11:32
it's a bit of a funny one.
11:35
You can get away with more than you can get away with, for example, in London.
11:41
But there's certain spaces that you can and can't use without permission.
11:46
So we shot on the grounds of one of the big museums in Glasgow, and we had to go through the council because it was technically part of their park.
11:54
and get clearance for things like that so yeah there was a lot of times we had to get permits um but there were some times where you know we didn't we didn't really shoot the street that much to be honest um again because of that kind of issue um there were some times where we're shooting maybe like outside of a business um there was an art shop we shot out in front of um it didn't actually make it into the final film but it was just a case of chatting with that business and making sure that they were okay with it and that we weren't going to get in the way of their trade and and we obviously weren't going to cause any issues in terms of safety of people going by i mean we were very low you know such a light crew not a lot of kit um and you know we cleared it with people just so that nobody was no one was being put and put out of place by what we were doing and everyone was really receptive um and that extended to the locations we shot on the interior locations we shot on as well and we just approached people with the idea you know we're very upfront we're like we're insured everything's risk assessed we can share all that stuff with you guys so you know that we're taking it seriously and we're not just doing this you know we're not just pretending to be filmmakers it's like we know what we're doing and there's a level of responsibility there that I think settled a lot of people as well so yeah there's there was a mix of stuff like but most of the time it was we were shooting in places that we had um we had already cleared because a lot of times we were shooting either a private residence or in a like a space that was owned by a company or an organization
15:11
So is this a specific cinema? Is it a chain of cinemas? How have you managed to sort that out? so
15:19
yeah so it's mostly cinemas in scotland at the moment we've got a couple of sites in ireland and we've got a couple in england that are booked for slightly later in the year and we're hoping we can expand that a little bit more and do a bit more of maybe like a tour with it um but yeah we you know i took the film over to the european film market in berlin at the start of this year and we got i had some chats with some sales agents and distributors and the kind of main takeaway was that they thought the film was good but they just didn't know what the market was for it and they didn't think there was a market for it and we got some offers who were like we'll take it and we'll put it on streaming platforms we'll maybe even do a physical release but when I was looking at those contracts I just didn't think there was anything in what those those companies were offering that I couldn't do myself and there was no theatrical in those contracts either and that was something I was always really keen for even if it was a tiny release I knew that I wanted some form of theatrical release so you know I just decided okay I'll set up my company and we'll just do it we will handle distribution um and in doing that we've you know we managed to get into some cinemas and it was just a case of getting in touch with the cinemas um whoever was their bookers um their buyers and um and setting at your stall really just being like here's the film this is a trailer like our trailer did pretty well on youtube for an indie film and it did quite well on tiktok and things like that so we we got loads of audience data off the back of that we knew how it was kind of resonating with people.
